Annual Boat Parade - 2024

Sunday, August 4th - 9:00 PM Sharp!

Leaving from Curtiss Boat Launch

Note the change in starting point!

Light up your boat and join Horseshoe's boat parade tradition.  Or, if you prefer, light up your dock and cheer on the boats from shore!

This year's plan under the lead boat guidance of Captain Rob Dippell, is to start offshore from the Curtiss Boat Launch in Little Horseshoe and proceed out through the narrows onto the big lake turning to starboard, following the Shuylers Island shoreline, the north shore, through the Three Sisters narrows and finally the west shore.  The shallow narrows in Little Horseshoe will be marked with lighted buoys for safety.  However, if you don't feel comfortable navigating the Little Horseshoe narrows you can join the parade as it proceeds out onto the big lake.  Please see the below map for the planned parade route.

Again, please note that the parade will NOT start at the big rock on Horseshoe Lake as it has in other years.

Do your part to make this a safe event and be mindful of the following:

  • Make sure your boat is safely operated, properly lit and equipped with safety devices such as a sounding device, and life preservers as per safe boating regulations.
  • Follow the route and pace set by the lead boat.
  • If you have swimming rafts anchored offshore, please make them visible.
  • Arrive at the start point early and be ready to go at 9:00 PM sharp!

Please watch the HLPOA Facebook and Instagram pages for any last minute information due to weather or water levels.

The HLPOA acknowledge the lands and waters on which we meet, are the traditional homelands of the First Nation, Métis and Inuit peoples. Our beautiful lakes are fed from the north and flow to the south. We therefore acknowledge the Algonquin and Mississauga peoples as well as the governance of the Williams Treaties. We wish to express gratitude to Mother Earth, the resources we are using, and honour all Indigenous people who have been and continue to live on these lands.
